धमनियाँ ऑक्सीजनयुक्त रक्त को हृदय से शरीर के सभी भागों तक ले जाती हैं (फुफ्फुसीय धमनी अपवाद है)। शिराएँ रक्त को हृदय तक वापस लाती हैं।
Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart to the body (the pulmonary artery is the exception). Veins bring blood back to the heart.

प्रकाशिक घनत्व इस पर निर्भर है कि माध्यम प्रकाश को कितना धीमा करता है (अपवर्तनांक), न कि द्रव्यमान घनत्व पर। तारपीन का तेल जल से कम घना है पर उसका अपवर्तनांक अधिक है, इसलिए वह प्रकाशिक रूप से सघन है।
Optical density depends on how much a medium slows light (refractive index), not on mass density. Turpentine is less dense than water but has a higher refractive index, so it is optically denser.
