ऐल्केन के क्लोरीनीकरण (सूर्य के प्रकाश में) में हाइड्रोजन परमाणु एक-एक कर क्लोरीन से प्रतिस्थापित होते हैं, जैसे CH₄ + Cl₂ → CH₃Cl + HCl। यह प्रतिस्थापन अभिक्रिया है।
In chlorination of an alkane (in sunlight), hydrogen atoms are replaced one by one by chlorine atoms, e.g. CH₄ + Cl₂ → CH₃Cl + HCl. This is a substitution reaction.
