प्रति घंटे शुद्ध भराव = 1/8 − 1/72 = 9/72 − 1/72 = 8/72 = टंकी का 1/9। टंकी का 1/3 भाग भरने में लगा समय = (1/3) ÷ (1/9) = 3 घंटे। अतः उत्तर 3 है।
Net filling per hour = 1/8 − 1/72 = 9/72 − 1/72 = 8/72 = 1/9 of the tank. Time to fill 1/3 of the tank = (1/3) ÷ (1/9) = 3 hours. So the answer is 3.
