मटर में बौनापन अप्रभावी लक्षण (tt) है, अतः बौने जनक शुद्ध प्रजनन करते हैं और उनकी सभी संतानें बौनी होंगी। लंबे जनकों में लंबेपन का जीन होने से लंबे पौधे भी बन सकते हैं।

Dwarfness in pea is a recessive trait (tt), so dwarf parents are pure-breeding and all their offspring will be dwarf. Tall parents may carry tall genes and give tall plants.
