अभिवाही (संवेदी) तंत्रिकाएँ ग्राही से मस्तिष्क व मेरुरज्जु तक आवेग ले जाती हैं; अपवाही (प्रेरक) तंत्रिकाएँ आदेश मांसपेशियों व ग्रंथियों तक ले जाती हैं। अतः उत्तर संवेदी सूचना को CNS तक पहुँचाना है।

Afferent (sensory) nerves carry impulses from receptors to the brain and spinal cord; efferent (motor) nerves carry commands to muscles and glands. So the answer is transmitting sensory information to the CNS.
