स्थिर ताप और दाब पर प्रक्रम स्वतः तब होता है जब गिब्स मुक्त ऊर्जा घटती है, अर्थात ∆G < 0। ∆G = 0 साम्यावस्था और ∆G > 0 अस्वतः प्रक्रम दर्शाता है।
At constant T and P, a process is spontaneous when the Gibbs free energy decreases, i.e. ∆G < 0. ∆G = 0 means equilibrium and ∆G > 0 means non-spontaneous.

नीहारिका परिकल्पना (कांट, लाप्लास) के अनुसार ग्रह युवा सूर्य के चारों ओर गैस और धूल की चक्रिका से बने। बिग बैंग ब्रह्मांड की उत्पत्ति बताता है, ग्रहों की नहीं।
The Nebular Hypothesis (Kant, Laplace) says the planets formed from the disc of gas and dust around the young Sun. The Big Bang explains the origin of the universe, not planets.
